Memphis may be where we’re located, but Gossett VW Porsche can’t help but consider the whole of western Tennessee its home. We love serving customers from all over the tri-state area, but we have a particular pride for our neighboring Tennessee cities like Jackson. Located just an hour drive away from Gossett VW Porsche, it’s the perfect location for a day trip in a Porsche convertible.
Jackson has had a rich history from its antebellum days as a cotton cultivator, as well as being known for its railroads to its Rock-A-Billy music scene. The mid-1800s were a major time of development for Jackson—railroads were being built, traveling from north to south and east to west. Jackson was a hub for many of these railroads, which brought tons people to the area. During the early- to mid-1900s, there were 15 different passenger lines that ran through Jackson. Folks could get to cities like New Orleans, Daytona, and St. Louis in one straight shot from Jackson. Today, places like the N.C.& St. L. Depot and Railroad Museum give a glimpse into the railroad history that helped shape Jackson, Tennessee.
Jackson is home to hundreds of acres of parks and gorgeous outdoor spaces. Nice weather calls for a visit to Cypress Grove. This nature preserve offers a serene escape just off of I-40. A boardwalk leads you through a cypress forest where you may spot wildlife like frogs, hawks, and other birds of prey.
If sports are more your speed, Jackson offers its fair share of athletic attractions. Catch a minor league baseball game at Pringles Park or join a group bike ride with Jackson Spokes Club.
This Tennessee city may have started as a railroad hub, but over the years Jackson has grown to be an art hub, too. It’s easy to find entertainment every week, whether you’re looking to see a ballet put on by Ballet Arts, Inc. or to take in a performance by the Jackson Symphony. You may be surprised by all of the things you find to enjoy in Jackson, Tennessee.
